ELICO Foundation joined hundreds of government institutions, development partners, private sector actors, and civil society organizations at the 2026 National Environment Week Exhibition held at the Jakaya Kikwete Convention Centre Grounds in Dodoma from June 1 to June 5.
The annual event provided a platform for stakeholders to showcase innovations and initiatives that contribute to environmental conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable development.
Throughout the five-day exhibition, ELICO Foundation highlighted its work in promoting renewable energy, sustainable healthcare infrastructure, productive use of energy, climate-smart livelihoods, and environmental protection across Tanzania.
The Foundation’s exhibition booth attracted visitors from different sectors, including government leaders, development practitioners, students, researchers, and members of the public interested in learning more about innovative solutions that improve livelihoods while protecting the environment.
Visitors to the Foundation’s booth learned about initiatives ranging from solar-powered healthcare facilities and water systems to renewable-energy solutions that improve livelihoods and reduce pressure on natural resources.
Among the distinguished visitors was Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office (TAMISEMI) responsible for Health, Dr. Jafar Seif, who commended stakeholders for advancing the adoption of electric mobility technologies and other sustainable innovations that contribute to Tanzania’s development agenda.

The exhibition also received a visit from the Permanent Secretary in the Vice President’s Office, Dr. Richard Stanislaus Muyungi, who praised organizations and stakeholders for their commitment to promoting climate-smart innovations.
Dr. Muyungi emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships among government institutions, development organizations, the private sector, and communities to accelerate Tanzania’s transition toward a low-carbon and sustainable future.

His remarks resonated strongly with ELICO Foundation’s mission of leveraging clean energy technologies to improve healthcare, education, livelihoods, and environmental outcomes in underserved communities.
Another key visitor was the Minister of State in the Vice President’s Office (Union and Environment), Engineer Hamad Masauni, who commended exhibitors for supporting the Government’s efforts to advance environmental conservation and sustainable development.
Addressing participants during the event, Minister Masauni underscored the cross-cutting nature of environmental issues, noting that they affect nearly every sector of society, including health, energy, water, agriculture, transportation, and community development.
He stressed that addressing environmental challenges requires collective action and strong collaboration among stakeholders.
“Environmental issues cut across all sectors. Therefore, strengthening partnerships and collaboration is essential in advancing sustainable solutions that will benefit current and future generations,” he said.

For ELICO Foundation, the exhibition served as an opportunity to demonstrate how clean energy and climate-smart technologies can contribute to social and economic development while supporting environmental sustainability.
The week-long celebrations culminated in the commemoration of World Environment Day, where the Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Ambassador Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi, served as the Guest of Honour.
In his address, the Vice President called upon Tanzanians to use the occasion of World Environment Day to reflect on their collective responsibility to protect the environment and ensure the sustainable use of the abundant natural resources with which the country has been endowed.
He urged citizens, institutions, and development partners to unite their efforts in safeguarding the environment for present and future generations, emphasizing that environmental conservation remains a shared responsibility.

As Tanzania continues to pursue its climate and sustainable development goals, ELICO Foundation remains committed to working alongside government institutions, development partners, and communities to advance innovative solutions that improve lives while protecting the environment.
The Environment Week Exhibition 2026 provided an important platform for knowledge sharing, partnership building, and demonstrating how collaborative action can accelerate the country’s journey toward a greener, more resilient, and sustainable future.
