Arusha. The Board of Directors of ELICO Foundation held its fourth board meeting in Arusha, bringing together board members and the Foundation’s leadership to review programme performance, assess institutional progress, and outline strategic priorities for the coming months.
The meeting, chaired by Prof. Evelyn Mbede, focused on the implementation of the Foundation’s renewable energy, water access, climate resilience, healthcare and community development programmes across Tanzania.
Board members reviewed progress made under several ongoing initiatives, including the BOLD Challenge Initiative in Monduli District, and the Solar Fish Drier in Nyasa.
Speaking after the meeting, Board Chairperson Prof. Evelyn Mbede reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to supporting the Foundation in achieving its mission, noting that effective governance goes hand in hand with a dedicated management team.
“The role of the Board is to support the organisation in every way possible by providing strategic guidance, oversight and opening opportunities for growth.
At the same time, the responsibility rests with ELICO’s management and staff to work hard, remain committed, and ensure that the organisation continues to deliver meaningful results for the communities it serves,” she said.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the Board to review the Foundation’s financial performance, institutional policies, strategic partnerships, and future resource mobilisation efforts.
According to ELICO Foundation Executive Director Sisty Basil, the Board’s guidance plays an important role in ensuring that the organisation continues to deliver community-centred solutions while maintaining high standards of transparency and accountability.
Following the meeting, members of the Board visited several project sites like Nyasa Fish Solar drier and Bold Challenge Program to observe the implementation and impact of ELICO Foundation’s renewable energy and water initiatives, providing first-hand insights into how the programmes are improving livelihoods in different parts of the country.
