ELICO Foundation has successfully completed the implementation of the CEFA Project, marking another important milestone in advancing clean energy solutions, climate-smart agriculture, and improved nutrition outcomes for rural communities in Tanzania.

Implemented by ELICO Foundation as the project partner and funded by European Committee for Training and Agriculture (CEFA) , the initiative was designed to demonstrate and promote the adoption of solar-powered irrigation technologies as a sustainable solution to agricultural productivity challenges, food insecurity, and malnutrition in farming communities.

ELICO Foundation’s approach focused on introducing farmers to solar-powered water pumping systems, an innovative and environmentally friendly technology aimed at supporting year-round farming while reducing dependence on unpredictable rainfall patterns and costly diesel-powered irrigation systems. Practical field demonstrations marked the final phase of project implementation, with ELICO Foundation successfully conducting demonstrations across nine villages in Iringa District, including Mgera, Kiwere, Mfyome, Kitapilimwa, Ilolompya, Luganga, Ukwega, Mkombilenga, and Magozi.
